Welcome to the inaugural WimBash>>Philadelphia 2012!
Founded by legendary Grammy award winning rock band Living Colour bassist Doug Wimbish, Doug's personal venture, WimBash, continues to be both a vision and a mission. Starting with a Tack>>Head reunion in 2004 in his hometown of Hartford, CT as a musical get-together for family and friends and as a way to give back to the community, Doug's WimBash has become a highly anticipated event, rapidly expanding to cities across the US. and beyond. The annual WimBash, as it was named in 2005, features Doug playing with a number of world-class collaborators, as well as select local bands, providing the opportunity to see musicians, who more often play large venues around the world, in a much more intimate setting. WimBash is unique in that it brings together an eclectic group of music genres under one roof, utilizing the local talent alongside well-known artists while working together with a local foundation or organization in giving back directly to the community. In its seventh year, WimBash is growing in popularity and attracting more and more talented musicians to his NovaSound family. Doug and his production company, NovaSound Studio, are bringing the WimBash Music Festival Series on the road while keeping the vision of WimBash as a community and family based, organic, relaxed and educational event. In early 2012, Doug is partnering up with The Miami Design Preservation League, the School of Rock and the DREAM Project to bring WimBash to the cities of Miami, Philadelphia and Cabarete, Dominican Republic. WimBash returns this spring to New Orleans during the famed New Orleans Jazz Fest!
Doug's belief in transcending the old to the new and his belief in the youth to carry on the music and the art lends itself to his work with School of Rock. Supporting music awareness and passion while maintaining the history and encouraging kids to believe in themselves is the message that Doug hopes to deliver to the kids in Philadelphia. Doug is sure to deliver lots of anecdotal stories gained from years of experience in the music business ,working with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Herb Albert, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Carly Simon, Seal, Al Green, Billy Idol, George Clinton, Kanye West, James Brown, Mos Def and more!
The School of Rock presents WimBash>>Philadelphia promises to deliver an energetic, powerhouse day of music and community togetherness that will resonate in the hearts and souls of all who attend!
